Battery Forecast

How long will your laptop really last today? An AI forecast that learns how you use your PC, and runs entirely on it.

Battery Forecast interface with estimated battery life, indicative range and the 24-hour chart

Demo interface: synthetic history, with forecasts computed by the real local model.

Made for your day

Answers, not percentages.

Windows tells you a percentage. Battery Forecast tells you what it means for the rest of your day.

Until when

The time your battery reaches the reserve, with an honest range from cautious to optimistic. Never a fake exact number.

Your evening

How much will be left at 22:00, or any time you choose. And a gentle hint to turn on battery saver if it won't last.

Calm alerts

About 60, 30 and 15 minutes before the reserve, at low battery, when charged, or when something drains unusually fast. Once each.

There when you need it

A glance.
Then back to work.

Your battery forecast lives beside the clock. Reach it without leaving what you’re doing.

  1. 01
    Rest your pointer.

Hover over the battery icon to bring up the forecast.

  2. 02
    See what’s ahead.

Read your remaining time, evening level and the 24-hour curve.

  3. 03
    Carry on.

Move away to close it, or click to keep it open. Your keyboard shortcut works too.

On battery and on the charger

Two forecasts.
One panel.

The same local AI reads your battery history and answers the question that fits the moment: how long you will last, or when you will be charged.

On battery: until 14:20, about 13 hours, with range and 24-hour chart
On batteryWhen you reach the reserve, with a cautious-to-optimistic range, your evening level and a 24-hour chart.
Charging: target 80% at 01:40, about 31 minutes, with range and chart
ChargingWhen you reach 80% or your own target, learned from your past charges, slowdown near full included.
Plugged in with the charge held at 80% by a charge limit: if you unplug now, until 16:50
Plugged in, charge heldWith a charge limit or a full battery: how long it would last if you unplugged now.

How it works

It learns your habits.
Then it looks ahead.

Every minute Battery Forecast records your battery level. A time-series AI model, Timestral by Mistral AI, reads weeks of that history and forecasts the next 24 hours.

  • One clear scenario at a time. On battery: how long if you keep going as you usually do, without plugging in. While charging: when you reach your target if you stay plugged in.
  • Habits and the present, side by side. The forecast from your habits always comes with the estimate at your current rate, and with Windows' own.
  • Honest about the unknown. When you usually plug in, the model can't know what you'd use on battery; the chart says so and continues at the expected rate, dashed.
  • Health and history. Full-charge vs design capacity, and the discharges it has observed, without inventing cycles.
History and battery health window: 82% of design capacity and a list of observed discharges

Light on your battery

The AI sleeps
until it's needed.

The model is not a background service. It starts to compute, answers, and closes. With battery saver on it never starts by itself.

30 minat most, between background forecasts on battery (you can choose)
~3 sof CPU per forecast, measured on the development laptop
0engine processes left running a minute after a forecast
Passivewaiting between forecasts: idle engine threads do not spin

Four themes

At home next to the clock.

Dawn and Mist for light days, Dusk and Midnight for the evening, or simply follow Windows. Italian and English.

Your schedule, your machine

More than a battery percentage.

Choose your times, inspect the curve and see the system context behind the estimate.

Explore any hour

Hover over the chart to move its dot and read the date, time, expected percentage and indicative range. Keyboard arrows work too.

Your own targets

Type any HH:mm target and up to four extra times. Open and close the panel with a shortcut you record (initially Ctrl+Alt+B), or just rest the pointer on the icon. Make the panel as large as you like.

Charging, too

Choose a charging target from 50–100%. While charging, the same AI learns from your past charges and tells you when you will reach it, slowdown near full included, next to the current charging rate. It does not control the hardware. When a charge limit holds the battery, it shows how long it would last if you unplugged now.

Useful local context

Optionally record CPU load and frequency, memory, battery watts, brightness, power profile and available temperatures. Timestral receives usable historical channels; future values are not invented.

Make it yours

Custom alert thresholds, quiet hours, chart visibility and a keep-open preference. Copy a summary or export battery and sensor CSV files.

Diagnostics you control

Create a local diagnostic ZIP without battery history or logs. Nothing is uploaded automatically. Missing sensors stay unavailable; an ACPI thermal zone is not labelled CPU temperature.

  • Says why the charge stops. Plugged in at 80% and not charging? A short line explains that a charge limit is probably protecting the battery.
  • Open it your way. Rest the pointer on the icon, click it, or press your shortcut again to close.
  • Tidy preferences. Six sections with icons: forecast, panel and shortcut, notifications, appearance, data and privacy, general.
Preferences window with sections and icons: forecast reserve, evening target, charge target and refresh

Charging and sensor context are experimental. Functional tests use the real local model; accuracy gains have not been established.

Private by design

Your battery data
never leaves your PC.

Python, PyTorch and the model ship inside the installer. Forecasts work with the network off.

Download

Get Battery Forecast.

One installer per architecture, for your user only: no administrator rights needed.

Windows 10 (2004) or 11 · Intel/AMD x64 or ARM64 · about 280 MB download

Windows security: the installers are not digitally signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn you. Choose More info → Run anyway, or first compare the file with its .sha256 from the release page: Get-FileHash .\BatteryForecast-Setup-*.exe
Is the forecast exact?

No forecast of the future can be. Battery Forecast shows a central estimate with a range, says which model produced it, and tells you when it is still learning. Accuracy on real laptops has not yet been measured.

Why is the download that large?

It includes everything needed to run the AI offline: a private Python runtime, PyTorch for CPU and the Timestral weights. Nothing else is downloaded later.

Does it change my power settings?

No. It reads available battery and hardware signals locally. When battery saver would help, it opens the Windows settings page for you.

Which Windows PC do you have?

Pick the installer for your processor. The download starts right away.

Not sure? Settings → System → About → System type says “x64-based” or “ARM-based”.
